Here’s a very special piece of fanart! My little cousins have taken an interest in Softboy Pillowman, and one of them made this wonderful drawing. It was one lovely part of a great family reunion.

Also, “poggers” is not a normal word in Softboy’s lexicon. Chris might be a modern youth, but he is still very confused by the word. He knows about and references this meme, though, because Lori sent it to him and it really resonated with him.

Madame Croc: sapphic transwoman
The Butterfly Bear: sapphic/queer and genderfluid
Note: Originally, Madame Croc was a lesbian. However, once she fell in love with the Butterfly Bear, whose gender can change from masc to femme to nonbinary day by day, she wanted to find a term that felt more inclusive to their relationship. Eventually, they settled on “sapphic” to emphasize Madame’s WLW attraction while also acknowledging attraction to other genders. The Butterfly Bear also identifies as sapphic when they’re a woman, but when they’re other genders, they simply use the word “queer.”
(I’m aware that there’s discourse around the word queer and if it’s been reclaimed or not. Personally, I believe it has been reclaimed and that it functions much better as an umbrella term for LGBT people. I do not want to fight about this, so if reading the word upsets you, take solace in the fact that as of now, I don’t have plans to use it in the dialogue of upcoming comics)

….d-does softboy have teeth? I’m sorry if this is a massively strange question, but I woke up at 3am thinking about this and it won’t leave me alone
Haha, that’s a good question! Definitely something worthy of making people wake up at 3 AM.
This touches on a question that I’ve thought about ever since I first watched Toy Story: how do toys who were made with closed mouths have teeth, or even open their mouths, when they come to life?
The main answer is, of course, plot reasons. Because it would be too unsettling to have eternally smiling toys as your main characters.
Basically, a lot of toys in Chrisville don’t have teeth until Chris brings them to life in his mind. Even Leo doesn’t originally have teeth!
Leo’s teeth are more obvious because he’s a lion, and Chris wanted to show off those fangs of his. Softboy, however, would have “normal” human-like teeth, but Chris probably doesn’t even consider Softboy’s teeth unless he’s giving a toothy grin, or is biting something.
So to paraphrase Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, Softboy has teeth only when it’s funny necessary.

Well, it’s been over a year since I drew Softboy as a character from a piece of media that was too mature for this blog. Let’s do it again!
For the past few months, I’ve been getting into the Danganronpa series. I’ve watched walkthroughs and let’s plays of the first two games, am currently a third of the way through watching Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls, and have seen the anime adaptation of the first game. My relationship with this series isn’t perfect; I still have a lot of criticism and gripes about it, and I’m sure that will continue as I keep consuming all of it that there is. Still, I can’t deny that I’m oddly hooked, and I’ve already proven that once something is on my mind, it won’t take long for me to blend it with Softboy in some way.
So here’s a little Monokuma-esque version of our favorite boy: Monomocha! (A friend of mine and the Internet informed me that omocha is a Japanese word for toy) Just because Softboy is sweet and cuddly in his real life doesn’t mean he won’t enjoy playing villains every now and then. >:3
Monomocha is different from Monokuma, though. While Monomocha is also a little stinker and plays with the lives of the victims of his killing games, he isn’t as crude or gross as Monokuma is. He leans into the fact that he appears to be a cute stuffed toy, making his talk of killing games and trials ending in executions even more chilling. He definitely isn’t as violent as Monokuma is outside of executions; if he had an Usami/Monomi counterpart like in the second game, he’d find a different way of toying with her than beating her.
If you’re wondering how a young kid like Chris got into Danganronpa in the first place, there’s a logical explanation: his older cousin. One day during a family reunion/vacation, Chris really wanted to hang out with his teenage cousin Ryan, who he thinks is super cool. Ryan wasn’t in the mood for playing a game, so he put on the anime adaptation of his current hyperfixation and thought “eh, I saw worse things at his age.”
Aaaand that’s how Chris ended up planning and acting out (pretend) killing games in his bedroom.
